The trucks on site that day were,
The Hungry Nomad, an Armenian food truck.
The Grilled Cheese Patrol, serving everyday favorite cheese sandwiches with a twist.
Los Angeles Shaved Ice, One of the longest lines with the longest menu choice of flavors.
Go Country 105 Chuck Wagon, BBQ and Tex Mex specialties.
The Peanut Butter Truck, enough said.
Lake St Creamery, amazing ice cream and cool shirts.
The Krazy BBQ truck, Korean bbq with some neat local and Mexican influence.
Mamas Malaysian Cuisine.
Sloppy Gourmet, featuring America's original Sloppy Joe.
Grilled cheese with mac and more cheese and another one with pulled pork
This was a bread bowl filled with sloppy Joe, cheese, sour cream and onions. I opted to have "The Ripper" which meant stuffing a hot dog in below the sloppy Joe. Served alongside some sweet potato fries with Parmesan.
My dessert was a waffle bowl of Aztec Chocolate ice cream from the Lake Street truck. This was really good, creamy with chipotle and cayenne leaving a spicy kick on my tongue after a few licks.
The shaved ice truck had one of the longest lines probably due to the soaring temperatures and the oodles of flavor combinations which could be had. Miranda chose cherry, grape and raspberry and I asked her to give me a camera pose which said I'm melting and need to eat my ice NOW.
I think she pulled it off quite well even a little scary looking with no eyeballs.
Great catch....all these goodies..I love most our food truck on the beach..the best fish and other sea treasures and so fresh:)
ReplyDeleteThe sweet kumara chips with parmesan absolutely delicious:)And Miranda is a steel:)
What a fun post! I have been hoping to catch a gathering of food trucks, but I have yet to see even one in my area. YUM!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Miranda...
ReplyDeleteGrilled cheese looks really tempting.
Grilled mac and cheese - who'da thunk it...looks SO good!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a super fun and tasty outing!
You are sooooo lucky! We get no food trucks in the hinterlands.
ReplyDeleteHaha your daughter is so cute! I've been trying to check out Food trucks but haven't had a chance as it's Friday night in SF (40 mins away from my house). But after seeing your post, I really think I should just go and have fun eating! Although I heard it's very cold eating out (imagine summer in SF). It was fun post and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMmmm mac-n-cheese grilled cheese, yes please! The bread bowl with hot dog and sloppy joe looked delicious, as well. I'm so jealous of all the wonderful food trucks! Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves!
ReplyDeleteLove these food trucks and love Amanda! gloria
ReplyDeleteNot many food trucks here - sadly.
ReplyDeleteThe trend will follow from the states soon enough :)
Maybe I should try one!
Ha, that picture of your daughter with her eyes rolled back is hilarious. The food trucks look like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteWith so many trucks, I wouldn't know when to stop. That pic of your daughter is too funny. What a perfect model. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe never have so many food trucks in one location like this, it's so fab! I'd be eating out of all the trucks until my seams split... I think your daughter's expression is totally priceless, she'll thank you for making her do this when she turns 18. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThey've pretty much done away with the food trucks in NYC. Grrrrr....One blogger I know is not handling it well; Culinary Types.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post, I wish we had food trucks in central PA. They have such a way of "dressing" up the neighborhood:) Not to mention the goodies. Waffle bowl dessert, hint, hint...Perhaps one day...
Thanks for sharing...oh yes, popped in from Danielle's Cooking for my peace of mind.
Just realized that you live in Long Beach. I'm in Orange County. I used to work in Long Beach until our office relocated to Costa Mesa late last year. Hubby and I still have ties in LB so we go there pretty regularly. We'll have to exchange restaurant recommendations. Always looking for new places to try.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I have completely missed the food truck craze and have never been to a food truck. Though I recently started watching the Great Food Truck Race and see 2 trucks from OC (though only one now). I will definitely have to crawl out from under my rock and visit a food truck one of these days!
Gloria, there's many great restaurants up here in LB always happy to recommend, and the food trucks are out and about in Irvine sometime during the week, check out foodtrux.com for schedules.
ReplyDeleteI wish those food trucks would pass by our town. And look at that - they also serve a few Asian dishes! Ordering and eating those would be like visiting the countries themselves! Plus, food trucks are convenient because they bring the food to you.
