I think the tag game is more beneficial to the blogger rather than the reader as it seems to be a great chance to reminisce about past posts which either you were happy to post or some which when looked back upon have you thinking what the heck was I doing posting that? I have looked at previous posts and have noticed many changes in the style of my blog and especially the photography. With lots still to learn my goal is to keep blogging, growing Foodness Gracious and at the same time checking out all of your great blogs!
I mentioned the need for a personal favor in my title. Miranda, the bounce house stunt woman has type 1 diabetes. She is an amazingly strong, smart six year old girl who deals with this condition everyday and rarely complains about the strict blood sugar testing routine or food choices she has to face. Every year on November sixth my family and a troop of amazing friends take part in a fundraising walk for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This year instead of just asking people to donate, I would like to raise money by doing some kind of food oriented challenge and that's where my blogger friends can help by coming up with ideas. It could be wacky, serious or crazy but I would like it to be connected to food and it has to be fun. If I use your idea I will promise to give credit to you and your blog.
Thanks for reading this far and wondering when my seven link post was going to start, well here it is....
My Most Popular Post- Tiramisu
I have been using this recipe for many years and it never fails to impress people. Creamy and light with a strong but not overpowering coffee taste.
My Most Beautiful Post- Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars
Who can resist chocolate and peanut butter. I made these for The Secret Recipe Club and they were awesome.
My Most Controversial Post- Rhubarb Barbecue Sauce
Another Secret Recipe Club contender. I had to make it because I love rhubarb but thought how can that be good in BBQ, but it was.
My Most Helpful Post- Kale Burger
Thanks to Gretchen at Veggie Grettie for helping me understand about this green, chewy almost tasteless vegetable until you make it into a burger.
My Most Surprisingly Successful Post- Friday Night Drinks Blog Hop
I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of posts I received on my first blog hop. Unfortunately I have been very lazy in this hop and need to get back on track with the alcohol, watch this space!
My Post Which Didn't Get The Love It Deserved- Fajitas
These turned out really tender and full of flavor, I think the pictures were the down fall of this post
The Post I Am Most Proud Of- Panna Cotta S'mores
S'mores everywhere but I really wanted to do a unique version and It took me some time to come up with this but it was worth it. I haven't seen another one out there.
I'm passing this tag on to five other blogs which I enjoy reading and think you would too. If you have already played or don't want to, don't worry I wont be offended.
Really wonderful post! I know it takes time, but I had the same feelings as you. It is nice to see how much we've grown over time.
ReplyDeleteI hope your daughter is mending well - what a frightening ordeal!
Sabrina, at The Tomato Tart, has organized a few online bake-sales which I think is a fun way to raise money. The bloggers donate the goods and the the donors receive something great in return for their generosity. She also recently auctioned off a dinner catered by her. Check out her blog - she's very creative & has some good lessons learned that I'm sure she's willing to share.
And, finally, thank you for your kind words & encouragement!
The panna cotta smores sound awesome! And thanks for tagging me.
ReplyDeleteOh the favor I've seen a lot of people doing bake online bake sales.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I love seeing your roundup and opinions on each piece. Your take on s'mores was so inventive (not to mention that bbq sauce), and photos or not, I would've eaten those juicy fajitas anyday.
ReplyDeleteLoved taking part and reading many posts on this great games.Good way to learn something about the blogger and refresh memory or find recepies we oversaw:)
ReplyDeleteAs to you nobel idea to help this girl I am always for it.I will have soon something similar for kids in Serbias capital where I was born..kids that live and work on the streets.Although thsi is to remind people where to bring or send clothes ..for ones that can't there is idea of just clicking on my blog on Google Adsence and all the proceeds from Mr Google payment will go to them
Well sorry to have taken some of your space to talk about that but it seems you don't have Adsence on your site and that would be one idea
to add it.
Anotherone I just took part on one of the auctions for homeless cats.
Idea is that people business or whoever donate litlle something of their creations(I both a ring someone donated) and auction is held..winner gets that adn fond gets proceed.
Anyhow hope to have helped a little;)
I'm really sorry to hear about your daughter's broken elbow...that sounds beyond painful!
ReplyDeleteFun! Isn't it funny how you can be so excited about a recipe you post and it gets no love at all...but then post something you are not as excited about and it gets loads of attention?! Strange. I liked being able to see what those were for you. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Loved your roundup! Thanks so much for the kind mention and invitation. It may take me a while because I'm getting ready to move, but thanks for tagging me.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your daughter's broken elbow. Hope she mends quickly! And good luck with the fundraiser.
Yummy links- I want to try the tiramisu. :)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Broken elbow, huh? Been there...twice. Ugh. Let's hope this isn't a new trend for your mini stunt girl. I broke 32 bones before I hit 16. Awesome seven links! The under appreciated is always my favorite and those fajitas look out of CONTROL good :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I've given you an award over on Deep Dish :)

So sorry to hear about your daughter's broken elbow. Wish her a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeletePanna cotta smores..I love this the most.
Oh dear, I hope Miranda recovers well and hasn't already decided on what her future career will be! My kids were also trying to exert their dominance over a giant inflatable slide this weekend (even going down head first!), and I could easily have been in your situation right now. I sympathize, my friend, for the broken elbow and also for the diabetes. If there is one thing that connects everyone in my family line, it's the genes for diabetes. Oh, I know what it's like.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, fundraising ideas - here's a great link I found:http://www.ideasfundraising.co.uk/food-related-fundraising-ideas.html. I especially like the wine tasting fundraiser...I have visions of tipsy guests writing extra zeroes on their donation cheques. LOL! This is an easy idea if you can get a local supermarket or vineyard to work with you (great publicity for them too).
On a personal level, I can also donate a food package (or baking tools, cookbook, etc) from Brunei that you can auction off to your readers or real-life friends. Please let me know how I can help you.
As for the 7-Links game, I remember most of your lovely posts except for the earlier days. And thanks so much for tagging me but I've already posted mine a few weeks ago. I don't really mind doing another 7-links (of different posts..haha!), perhaps the game would have to be retitled "The 2nd Most Memorable 7-Links"!
Oh my gosh, bloody hell...that previous comment looks more like an email! (shaking head in disbelief)
ReplyDeleteI'm so hungry after seing all that pics!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Chile.
Nice pics! That steak for those fajitas does look amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the post, the 7 links is so much fun. I have yet to do mine. I was tagged a while ago too.
ReplyDeleteI love your new buttons, I hope the link I sent you was of some assistance.
Best wishes to your daughter for a fast recovery.
Hope your daughter is mending fast. That sounds painful. Great roundup, and everything looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your daughter, Gerry. The one thing about kids I've learned is, when they get injured, we usually feel the pain more than they do. Speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteHow a...bout...an online auction for a meal cooked by YOU!!! I'd tweet it and I bet a whole lotta others would too!!!
Whoops, love this game and your choices. I sent the Kale Burger link to my son who has recently gone meatless and LOVES it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your older posts -- tiramisu looks divine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for passing by my blog, but I started this week to make an english version of Espacio Culinario.
